“When life gives you lemons, just say fuck the lemons and bail.” –Kunu, Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
If life ever gets to be too much, or you ever lose sight of what you are fighting for, just take a step back.
Build a fire. Build it so big you get nervous and have to start spraying the trees around it and your house with water so they don’t catch on fire. Since these are special circumstances, go with the log cabin technique instead of the tepee. Build it tall, stuff it full, throw a bunch of lighter fluid on it (if you want real fun use gasoline but don’t kill yourself), and toss a pack of matches in it.
Watch your stress disappear.
Go for a walk in the woods, go camping, sit in a circle with your buddies and drink all day.
Don’t let life get too serious. Never forget the healing powers of nature and alcohol….and fire. Fire is truly magical.
Disclaimer: I am with my dad, brother in law, nephew, and our neighbor Jim for a boys weekend while my sister and mom are in Nashville for my sister’s Bachelorette party.
Had to fit in the writing though.
Cheers!
